Fabric weight: why GSM decides everything

GSM means grams per square metre. It is the single number that predicts whether a tee still looks good after twenty washes, and it is the number most brands in India quietly leave off the listing.

Every Respawn Culture tee sits in the 210–240 GSM band. Heavier cotton costs more and takes longer to dry, and that is the trade — you get a shirt that still holds its shoulder line long after a thin one has gone shapeless.

Does heavyweight cotton work in Indian weather?

Year-round in most of the country, yes. Through peak summer in the hotter states, a 210 GSM tee breathes noticeably better than 240. From October onward the heavier weight is the better buy — it layers under a jacket without bunching.

Oversized vs drop shoulder

These two get used interchangeably in Indian listings and they are not the same cut.

Oversized

Cut wider and a little longer through the whole body. The shoulder seam still lands near your actual shoulder, so the silhouette reads boxy and deliberate rather than borrowed. Better if you want the graphic to sit flat and large across the chest.

Drop shoulder

The shoulder seam is moved down onto the upper arm, so the sleeve begins lower and the fabric drapes. Reads more relaxed and less structured. The Eagle is cut this way.

Making a heavyweight tee last

• Turn it inside out before washing — this protects the print more than anything else you can do.
• Cold water, gentle cycle. Hot water is what fades a graphic.
• Skip the dryer entirely. Hang it in shade; direct sun bleaches dark cotton.
• Never iron over the print. Iron the fabric around it, inside out.
